TikTok has launched a standalone app for fans of the 2026 World Cup
TikTok has launched a new app, TikTok Pro Events, designed to bring users together around major events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The platform allows users to interact with other fans, watch popular videos, and access curated content from creators.
Users aged 18 and older can earn virtual stars by completing themed tasks, including searching for trending hashtags, visiting a special World Cup hub, and sharing content.
Accumulated stars can be exchanged for official FIFA World Cup merchandise, TikTok Shop coupons, or used for charitable donations through Feeding America.
The company noted that the platform will be monetized through sponsorships, affiliate programs, advertising, and marketing campaigns.
Special hubs dedicated to the 2026 World Cup are also available in the main TikTok app via search. They are powered by TikTok GamePlan tools, developed for sports teams, leagues, and broadcasters to engage and retain audiences.

One of the company’s largest and most expensive projects—the Horizon Worlds metaverse—has incurred losses of $80 billion. Support for the VR platform on Quest devices will end by mid-June, and the app will disappear from the app store by the end of March.
In addition, Meta Platforms Inc. announced a price increase for its Quest VR devices due to a significant rise in the cost of manufacturing high-performance equipment. The changes took effect on April 19 and will affect the U.S., U.K., European, and Japanese markets.
