Lemmo prepares e-bike with semi-solid-state battery — The Verge
German e-bike manufacturer Lemmo is preparing to launch the Lemmo 3 cargo model — one of the first e-bikes with a semi-solid-state battery. The 960Wh battery is expected to provide a range of up to 180 km, The Verge reports.
Battery and powertrain
The semi-solid-state electrolyte has a gel-like structure. According to the publication, this technology reduces the risk of thermal runaway compared with conventional lithium-ion batteries and remains stable even if the battery is punctured. Lemmo claims that its battery is 20% more compact and lighter, while its service life is 30% longer.
The removable battery can also be used as a power source for AC appliances with output of up to 1,000W and for USB-C devices with output of up to 66W. The bicycle weighs 39 kg with the battery installed, of which the battery accounts for 5 kg.

Load capacity and equipment

The total permitted load is stated at 200 kg: up to 80 kg can be carried on the rear rack and up to 20 kg on the front rack. The model is compatible with MIK HD standard accessories, including child seats, bags and boxes.
The rear hub electric motor will have an output of 750W in the United States, 500W in Canada and 250W in Europe. Maximum torque is 90Nm. The company also announced a system that analyzes sensor data and automatically selects a gear. Other equipment includes integrated headlights, turn indicators, brake lights, rear radar, GPS/LTE tracking, a touchscreen display and hydraulic brakes.
Price and deliveries
A teaser page on Kickstarter has already been opened for EU countries, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Reservations are available with a refundable €39.90 deposit; this makes it possible to purchase the bicycle starting from €1,890 before taxes. Lemmo expects the retail price to exceed €3,390 and plans the first deliveries for April 2027.
