Nintendo to release Ocarina of Time remake on November 5 — The Verge
Nintendo has announced that the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 will be released on November 5. The company announced the release date during a broadcast dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the The Legend of Zelda franchise, The Verge reports.
An updated version of the classic game
Nintendo first showed a teaser for the remake in June, but disclosed few details at the time. During the anniversary broadcast, the company demonstrated more gameplay and updated graphics, more detailed than those of the original Nintendo 64 version. The elements shown included the Great Deku Tree.
Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma called the project “a faithful interpretation using modern technology.” The remake will be the first game in The Legend of Zelda series to be released exclusively for Switch 2.

New mechanics and a film
The updated Ocarina of Time will feature free camera movement. Nintendo will also add a “thread of time” feature intended to make it easier to find the next destination and determine when players need to go there. Players will be able to hum melodies instead of performing them via the controller, while Link will gain the ability to jump by pressing a button.
During the same broadcast, Nintendo confirmed the title of its upcoming live-action feature film — The Legend of Zelda. The film is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on April 30, 2027. The company will also hold a 45-minute Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9 dedicated to Switch 2 games set to be released later in 2026.
