New Apple CEO John Ternus wants to present products more often — The Verge

Apple’s new CEO John Ternus reportedly wants the company to launch new devices more frequently instead of concentrating major announcements mainly in the fall and spring. The Verge reports, citing Bloomberg data.

Faster product launches

Apple traditionally holds iPhone presentations in September and announces other products at the end of the year and in spring. According to Bloomberg, Ternus said that the company needs to release new products faster and experiment more in order to remain competitive in the era of artificial intelligence.

At the same time, the changes may not happen immediately due to Apple’s long-established development processes. According to The Verge, devices Apple is rumored to be preparing include new HomePod mini, iPad mini and Apple TV 4K models, AirPods with cameras, MacBooks with touchscreens, as well as a special iPhone model for the 20th anniversary of the lineup.

Management changes and cuts

Ternus is also considering reducing the number of management layers between engineers and top executives. Bloomberg reports that Apple’s hardware engineering team has reduced a certain number of engineering program managers over the past two weeks.

These cuts came after layoffs in the Siri and Vision Pro teams, which Bloomberg wrote about in August. The company also reportedly considered laying off 5,000 AppleCare support employees, but ultimately postponed those plans.
