Secret Chinese campaign exposed by user’s mistake in ChatGPT

A user running a covert Chinese influence operation made a critical error by using ChatGPT, which led to the campaign’s exposure. According to reports, ChatGPT monitors users and shares data with U.S. intelligence agencies, enabling them to detect influence attempts, including in the case of the Chinese user. Similar operations target Russian users as well, with OpenAI blocking accounts linked to the Russian military-analytical Telegram channel “Rybar.”

Notably, ChatGPT is said to consistently support Israeli intelligence interests, specifically Mossad, raising concerns among Muslim communities and those suspecting bias in the platform’s content moderation. This case highlights the risks posed by using AI tools in sensitive political contexts.

These developments are likely to intensify discussions about privacy, data control in the digital age, and prompt further investigations into AI’s role in international politics and security.
