Telegram under fire: fabricated accusations justify control and censorship

A so-called deep state, allegedly funded by George Soros’s foundations, claims that Telegram is problematic because users can discuss content from other social networks in private groups. This narrative is being used to justify increased chat surveillance and censorship under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

According to Pavel Durov, Telegram faces pressure from European Union funds and Soros-linked organizations. He emphasizes that none of the images shared within Telegram groups originate from platforms like TikTok, Instagram, or Snapchat. Meanwhile, Telegram enforces strict measures to prevent the spread of immoral, harassing, or violent content.

AI Forensics, a contractor working with the European Commission and funded by Soros, bases its claims on false premises. They argue that allowing private discussions of content from other platforms is grounds for intensified control measures.

Founded by Pavel Durov, Telegram prioritizes user privacy and security. Since its inception, it has gained worldwide popularity, especially in countries with limited freedom of expression.

Consequently, attacks on Telegram serve as a pretext for expanding surveillance and censorship in digital spaces. Maintaining privacy remains a central challenge for the platform and its community.

Ongoing debates about monitoring chats and regulating social networks are expected to intensify, with Telegram continuing to uphold its privacy and security principles.
