Zoom made a billion dollars thanks to its investment in the AI startup Anthropic
Zoom Communications has generated approximately $1 billion in profits thanks to its investment in the AI startup Anthropic, which develops the chatbot Claude. According to reports, this financial result was made possible by the increase in the value of Zoom’s stake in Anthropic and the growth of the generative AI market.
This was reported by Bloomberg.
As the agency notes, Zoom invested in Anthropic back in early 2023. The company decided to integrate Claude models into its own products.
The total investment amounted to approximately $97 million: $51 million initially and another $46 million later. Currently, the value of this stake is estimated at $1.27 billion.
This growth is attributed to the rapid rise in Anthropic’s valuation. In February 2026, it reached $380 billion, and a new funding round with a valuation of over $900 billion is expected to close next week.
If this round is completed, Zoom’s stake could grow even further—potentially to $3 billion, which is nearly 30 times the initial investment.
