Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the BRICS summit in New Delhi, India, that China will play a leading role in developing cooperation and artificial intelligence among developing countries. This was reported by CNBC Top News, citing a statement by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

An open-source community for AI

According to Xi Jinping, China will initiate the creation of a BRICS open-source community in the field of artificial intelligence. Beijing also plans to support cooperation on the development and application of large language models, hold AI seminars and training courses, and build an open artificial intelligence ecosystem.

China will also work on creating a BRICS digital ecosystem cloud platform, Xi Jinping said. Among the proposed areas of cooperation, he named digital skills training, technology exchanges, and coordination of industrial development.

Engineering education and youth exchanges

Separately, the Chinese leader proposed establishing a BRICS alliance for engineering training and a youth exchange program for scientific and technological innovation.

BRICS was created in 2009 as an association of Brazil, Russia — an aggressor state, India, China, and South Africa. Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates later joined it.
