The Verge gave the MSI Claw EX portable console a score of 6 out of 10
The Verge gave the MSI Claw 8 EX AI Plus portable gaming PC, also known as the Claw EX, a score of 6 out of 10. Reviewer Sean Hollister called the device a major milestone for the portable gaming PC segment but does not recommend buying it due to its $1,800 price tag and a number of shortcomings.
According to Hollister, thanks to its next-generation Intel chip and refined design, the MSI Claw EX is the most powerful portable device that still remains truly portable. The reviewer also called it the portable gaming PC with the longest battery life.
The author cited the reliable performance of Windows’ sleep and resume modes as one of the Claw EX’s main advantages. According to him, pressing the power button resumes the game from exactly where it left off, and the device can remain in deep sleep mode for several days without significant battery drain. He compared this experience to that of the Steam Deck.

At the same time, The Verge noted graphics issues and performance glitches in certain games, as well as typical Windows inconveniences. MSI representative Ann Lee told the publication that limited quantities of the device may become available in the U.S. this month.
Holister concluded that Intel, MSI, and Microsoft were unable to fully realize their vision. In his opinion, the Claw EX points the way forward for portable gaming PCs, but the current version is not a good buy.
