The Verge: The Pixel 11 Pro Gets Useful AI Features, but With Minimal Updates
Google unveiled the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL, highlighting their artificial intelligence features, which are designed to help users complete everyday tasks more quickly. At the same time, a reviewer from The Verge noted that the hardware changes compared to the Pixel 10 Pro are minor, and some of the new software features only work under very specific conditions.
The smartphones feature displays with a peak brightness of 3,600 nits, faster wired charging, and Qi 2.2 support with wireless charging up to 25 watts. Google has also enlarged the sensor in the 5x telephoto camera; according to the company, this allows it to capture 30% more light. The minimum storage configuration is now 256 GB. The base model of the Pixel 11 Pro costs $1,099—$100 more than the previous model—and has 12 GB of RAM instead of the 16 GB found in last year’s Pixel 10 Pro.
The Proactive Assistance feature in Google Messages is designed to suggest actions based on the content of your conversations: check your calendar, create an event, or try to book a table. During testing by The Verge, it was useful for simple schedule-related queries, but for restaurant reservations, it required very specific messages that included the restaurant’s name, date, and time. To work with OpenTable, you must also enable the feature separately and connect the service in the settings.

Another new feature is the HiLight LED indicator, built into the flash in place of the temperature sensor. Currently, it lights up during voice conversations with Gemini when the phone is face down, and it can also signal calls from selected contacts. The reviewer described the indicator’s capabilities as too limited.
At the same time, the Rambler dictation tool and Magic Capture mode received positive reviews. Rambler, powered by Gemini, removes filler words, automatically adds punctuation, and can correct speech errors during recording. Magic Capture analyzes recorded video and selects photos and short clips from it, although the user still needs to watch the screen to keep the subject in frame.
The camera also features the Camera Looks system, which offers four basic and six creative processing styles. These settings affect real-time processing during recording rather than being applied as a filter after the frame is captured. According to The Verge, the camera remains one of the main reasons to choose the Pro version of the smartphone.
