Sales of humanoid companion robots have begun in China for $146,000
On June 30, the Chinese company UBTech began selling its hyper-realistic humanoid robots, the Uworlad U1 Ultra, which are marketed as home companions and cost up to $146,000.
The company unveiled a lineup of three models: the U1 Lite (about $17,650), the U1 Pro (approximately $25,000), and the flagship U1 Ultra, priced at $145,800 for the male version and $129,600 for the female version.
The robots have human proportions—standing 183 cm tall for the male version and 168 cm for the female version—and are equipped with 88 movable joints and a bionic neck design that enables more natural movements.
According to the manufacturer, the U1 is capable of holding a conversation, recognizing eye contact, and expressing over 20 emotions. The system’s response time is approximately 500 ms, and lip-sync with speech is about 20 ms.
The robots run on a battery with a runtime of 2–4 hours, support Wi-Fi, and use a specialized language model for emotional interaction. However, they are not designed for household tasks—their function is limited to communicating with and accompanying the user.
The manufacturer states that all data is stored locally in encrypted form without mandatory transmission to the cloud. According to UBTech, pre-orders for the series have already exceeded 11,000 units.
