China launched its first satellite, manufactured in the Xiong'an area, into orbit

The Chinese satellite Honghu-03, which ECNS describes as the first spacecraft manufactured in the new Xiong'an district, was successfully launched into orbit by a Zhuque-3 Y2 launch vehicle. The launch took place from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Pilot Zone.

The satellite was developed by Hong Qing Satellite Technology, a company based in Xiong’an. The satellite is designed to conduct technical validation of solutions for the large-scale deployment of satellite internet networks and integrates systems developed by the company.

For the first time, three key Hong Qing subsystems were deployed together in orbit: the Jinwu propulsion system, the Chiyu power system, and the Baize electronic system. The company developed all of these systems independently.

In 2025, Hong Qing completed the construction of an automated satellite production line in Xuan’an, modeled after automotive assembly lines. According to the company, the automation level on the line exceeds 70%, and the satellite production cycle has been reduced by approximately 80%. The time from final assembly to the release of the finished satellite is about 30 hours.
