Meta Muse overtakes ChatGPT in US iOS rankings — CNBC
In the United States, Meta’s personal AI agent Muse has taken first place among free iOS apps, overtaking OpenAI’s ChatGPT. According to analytics company Sensor Tower, the app was downloaded 730,000 times in approximately five days after its September 8 launch.
Leadership in the App Store
Muse overtook ChatGPT in the ranking of free iOS apps in the United States on Friday. As of Monday, it was also ahead of Polymarket, Kashi, Anthropic’s Claude, Grok AI and Meta’s own Meta AI app.
The total number of Muse downloads during the same period after launch was higher than that of ChatGPT, Claude and Grok, CNBC reports, citing Sensor Tower. At the same time, the analytics company noted that these services launched on Apple’s and Google Play’s platforms at different times, which may affect comparisons of the figures.

Features and subscriptions
Meta positions Muse as a tool for managing digital assistants capable of performing tasks on the internet. Among the examples, the company cited filling out electronic forms and organizing email inboxes. The app is powered by the Meta Muse Spark family of artificial intelligence models and represents a major step by Meta into the AI agent market.
Muse can be used free of charge, but Meta also offers monthly subscriptions costing $20 or $100 depending on usage volume. According to Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon, until now most AI-agent use cases have not been aimed at ordinary users, while Muse and similar products could contribute to the broader adoption of such services.
Amid interest in the new app, Meta shares rose by more than 11% on Monday. Rasgon also questioned whether privacy concerns could affect Muse’s long-term prospects.
