Nvidia’s equity investments reach $99 billion — CNBC Top News
The value of Nvidia’s equity investments stood at $99 billion as of July 26, more than ten times higher than a year earlier. CNBC Top News reports this. The chipmaker is expanding financial support for artificial intelligence labs, cloud providers, and infrastructure companies.
Investments in the AI sector
A year ago, the value of Nvidia’s such investments was estimated at about $7 billion, and two years ago at $2.2 billion. Over the previous 12 months, the company stepped up its participation in funding rounds across various segments of the AI industry, while the amount of its investment commitments in 2026 exceeded $40 billion.
Companies that received funding from Nvidia include OpenAI, CoreWeave, and Nebius. Nvidia Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said during a conference call with analysts that the company had invested nearly $50 billion in leading artificial intelligence labs. In February, Nvidia announced its intention to invest $30 billion in OpenAI as part of a $110 billion funding round.
In January, Nvidia invested $2 billion in CoreWeave, and in March it was announced that Nebius had raised $2 billion in investment from Nvidia. Such specialized cloud providers buy Nvidia graphics processing units and lease access to them to other companies.

Infrastructure and optical technologies
Since March, Nvidia has also committed to invest at least $6.5 billion in companies developing photonic and optical data transmission technologies. Lumentum, Coherent, and Marvell each received $2 billion from the company.
According to CNBC, Nvidia explained these investments by its desire to expand its own ecosystem, create growth opportunities, and strengthen its competitive position. CCS Insight Research Director Ian Fogg noted that equity investments help companies develop, while Nvidia gains the ability to encourage partners to choose technological solutions connected to its platform.
The company also announced partnerships with major investment firms that are expected to mobilize more than $500 billion in financing for Nvidia graphics processing units. Separately, the manufacturer said it was prepared to provide up to $105 billion in contingent credit support for OpenAI’s data center in Ohio.
