The Ukrainian Football Association has officially announced the end of its partnership with national team head coach Serhiy Rebrov. The contract was terminated by mutual agreement following the team’s poor performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The decision to part ways was mutual, the UAF reported

Rebrov had led the national team since the summer of 2023.

Despite stepping down as head coach, he will remain within the Ukrainian Association of Football—continuing his work as vice president and a member of the UAF Executive Committee.

During Rebrov’s tenure, the Ukrainian national team managed to navigate a difficult qualifying campaign and qualify for Euro 2024. However, the subsequent qualifying cycle ended in failure—the team lost its chance to participate in the 2026 World Cup, which was the key factor behind the changes.

UAF President Andriy Shevchenko thanked the coach for his work and for developing young players.

“We thank Serhiy Stanislavovych for his work and his contribution to the development of young players. Today, we need to move forward and make new decisions that will lay the foundation for the national team’s future,” said Andriy Shevchenko.

Rebrov himself also commented on his decision, thanking the team and the fans for their support.

“I am grateful to the entire team and the fans for the journey we have taken. It was a difficult path with victories and defeats, but Ukrainians have always supported the national team. These are moments of unity that I will never forget and for which I will always be grateful,” said Rebrov.

The UAF has not yet disclosed details regarding the new head coach. It is expected that his name will be announced at a later date. The new coach will have to prepare the team for the start of the Nations League and assemble the roster for upcoming international matches.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian national soccer team dropped in the updated FIFA rankings, falling from 30th to 32nd place.

Defender Vitalii Mykolenko commented on the Ukrainian national team’s defeat in the match against the Swedish national team in the World Cup qualifying playoff semifinals.

Sabo, Kopolovets, and Fedorchuk also criticized Rebrov.
