A lawyer in the Kyiv region demanded $25,000 to have a person removed from the wanted list and to arrange for disability benefits

Law enforcement officials have notified a lawyer from the Kyiv region that he is under suspicion for demanding 25,000 U.S. dollars in exchange for influencing officials to remove a person subject to military conscription from the TCC and SP wanted lists, making changes to the “Oberig” registry, and falsifying documents to obtain a disability classification.

According to the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect offered the man several ways to evade mobilization by preparing a set of medical certificates to have him declared unfit for military service. The transfer of the entire amount—which, at the National Bank of Ukraine’s exchange rate, totaled over 1.1 million UAH—took place on September 24, 2026, during a meeting in Kyiv under the supervision of law enforcement agencies.

The attorney’s actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for receiving an unlawful benefit in exchange for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with the extortion of such a benefit.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, a female officer of the General Staff was detained for accepting a bribe of 14,000 dollars.

In the Chernihiv region, a detained deserter attempted to offer a bribe of 40,000 hryvnias.

In Kyiv, a scheme to evade mobilization involving a former official was uncovered.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police uncovered 12 schemes to evade mobilization in eight regions.
