A court has sentenced an FSB agent who directed missile and bomb strikes on Kharkiv to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the suspect was detained in April 2024 in Kharkiv. He gathered information on military facilities, including backup command posts and training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and passed it on to Russian intelligence agencies.
To do this, the agent surveyed the city and its outskirts, identified potential targets, and then transmitted the data to his handler.
Law enforcement officials established that he was in contact with an employee of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the 5th Service of the FSB.
The perpetrator turned out to be a local unemployed man who was recruited due to his pro-Russian activity on Telegram.
During a search, a smartphone containing evidence of collaboration with the enemy was seized from him.
The court found him guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—treason under martial law.
The investigation was conducted by SBU officers in the Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
Earlier, a border guard was notified of a new suspicion of providing an unlawful benefit to a public official.
As a reminder, prosecutors from the Desnianskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv filed an indictment against a 34-year-old orthopedic surgeon who promised to help illegally transport a man subject to military service across Ukraine’s state border.
As a reminder, over the past year, operational units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, dismantled more than 520 criminal groups.
