March 2026 set 13 temperature records in Ukraine

Last week ended with an unusual warm spell, during which record-high temperatures were recorded in many regions of Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrGMC), between March 26 and 29, thermometers in 13 cities surpassed previous record highs. The highest readings were observed on Sunday, March 29, when the temperature reached +21.7°C in Mykolaiv and +21.1°C in Dnipro.

Temperature records were recorded in the following cities:

  • March 26: Ternopil (+16.4°C), Lutsk (+16.7°C).

  • March 27: Vinnytsia (+19.4°C), Mykolaiv (+20.2°C).

  • March 28: Khmelnytskyi (+18.2°C), Ternopil (+18.4°C), Lutsk (+18.4°C), Vinnytsia (+18.8°C).

  • March 29: Poltava (+18.6°C), Sumy (+20.9°C), Kharkiv (+20.9°C), Dnipro (+21.1°C), Mykolaiv (+21.7°C).

The Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory in the Kyiv region recorded several records. Specifically, on March 28, the air at the “Chornobyl” station warmed to +18.6°C, breaking the 1982 record. In addition to daytime highs, abnormally warm nights were also observed: on March 29 in Baryshivka, the minimum temperature was +7.8°C, which is the highest reading for this date in the entire history of observations. Meteorologists attribute this situation to a rapid influx of warm air, which may also affect weather conditions in early April.

As a reminder, cloudy weather with rain is expected in Ukraine on Monday, March 30.
