The soldier returned from the Special Forces to the Nemesis Brigade under a new program launched by the Ministry of Defense
A servicemember with the call sign “Gor” has returned to the ranks of the Defense Forces thanks to a new mechanism for voluntary return from unauthorized absence from duty (UAD), introduced by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the soldier, he found himself out of service after the unit where he worked as an electronic warfare operator was disbanded. After that, he was unable to transfer to the unit where he wanted to continue his service.
Upon learning about the new program, “Gor” submitted a report via the “Army+” app. After his application was approved, a recruiter contacted him and helped arrange the date and location of his arrival at the new unit.
Upon returning to the military, the soldier joined the 412th Nemesis Brigade, where he was offered a new specialty—operator of ground-based robotic systems.
The Ministry of Defense notes that the new mechanism allows service members who left their units without authorization before June 12, 2026, to select a new unit via the “Army+” app and return to service through a simplified procedure.
According to the ministry’s estimates, tens of thousands of service members could take advantage of this opportunity.

A digital mechanism has been launched in Ukraine to facilitate the return of service members who left their units without authorization via the “Army+” app, which allows them to complete the procedure without unnecessary bureaucracy and immediately select a new unit. The Ministry of Defense says the system is intended to expedite the return of motivated service members to the most effective units of the Defense Forces.
Thanks to improved training, the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince M. the Brave has achieved one of the lowest desertion rates among all units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
