The Zhevago case involving the alleged bribery of Supreme Court justices has been referred to court

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have filed an indictment against businessman Kostyantyn Zhevago with the court.

According to investigators, the owner of the “Finance and Credit” group attempted to influence the proceedings in a commercial case involving shares of the Poltava Mining and Processing Plant by providing improper benefits to the leadership and judges of the Supreme Court.

The NABU noted that in 2022, the Court of Appeals invalidated the agreement to purchase 40.19% of the company’s shares, which had been signed back in 2002. Investigators believe that in 2023, the businessman, through an intermediary, transferred $2.7 million to a lawyer whom law enforcement officials describe as a member of the so-called “back office” of the Supreme Court. The funds were allegedly intended as a bribe to secure a ruling in his favor.

In May 2023, the then-chairman of the Supreme Court and the lawyer were caught in the act of receiving another installment of an illegal benefit amounting to $450,000.

In July 2023, Zhevago was notified of the charges against him, and in September 2025, charges were also filed against the intermediary. In the fall of 2025, the High Anti-Corruption Chamber granted permission to conduct a special pre-trial investigation into the businessman, after which the investigation was completed.

Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed preventive measures on two other Supreme Court justices suspected of involvement in a corruption case.

The court authorized a special investigation into Zhevago in connection with the “Financeand Credit” bank case.
