Zelenskyy Outlined Ukraine's Key Advantages in Negotiations with Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that our country currently holds a strong position in negotiations to end the war.
The Ukrainian leader made this statement to DW.
According to the head of state, the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Kyiv is a “positive sign.”
Zelenskyy explained that during his meeting with Donald Trump’s team, he made it clear to them that Ukraine currently has every opportunity to conduct peace negotiations.
One of Kyiv’s main advantages is that the Armed Forces manage to neutralize more than 30,000 Russian invaders every month.
According to Zelenskyy, for the enemy, this is truly a “heavy price” to pay for meager gains on the battlefield.
Another important advantage for Ukraine is that it has truly become stronger than it was last year.
“That is why we believe we are now in a strong position for negotiations,” the head of state explained.
Zelenskyy also said that he discussed a potential energy truce with Russia with Trump’s envoys. The president believes that this could serve as a starting point for peace.
“What could lead us to any negotiations? Well, energy and grain. That’s step number one—what we can achieve,” Zelenskyy concluded.
