Due to Russian attacks, Ukrzaliznytsia has limited direct trains to Sumy
Ukrzaliznytsia has temporarily altered train service to Sumy due to intensified Russian attacks on railway infrastructure. The restrictions were introduced amid an increase in the intensity of attacks by the Russian Federation.
“Due to the increased intensity of Russian attacks on railway infrastructure and rolling stock in the Sumy region, trains will temporarily run to and from the Konotop station,” Ukrzaliznytsia explained.
The company noted: “We understand that this creates inconvenience for passengers who have planned their trips in advance, but safety is our top priority.” The Sumy Regional State Administration, together with the State Emergency Service, has arranged for bus transfers between Sumy and Konotop. Therefore, service to Sumy will continue in a multimodal format: train plus bus.”
At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized that the situation may change daily.
“We ask passengers to be prepared for any options regarding transportation/transfers or combined travel routes, depending on changes in the security situation,” the company warned.
Trains bound for Sumy will resume full service once the level of risk to passengers and crews has been reduced, Ukrzaliznytsia added, according to Suspilne.
