Boryslav Bereza responded to Zelenskyy's sanctions and spoke out about the pressure he has faced due to his stance
Former Ukrainian People’s Deputy Boryslav Bereza responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to impose sanctions against him. He stated that he considers these restrictions to be a reaction to his civic activism and criticism of the government.
The day before, Zelenskyy enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated July 2, 2026, on the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures. The corresponding decree No. 588/2026 was published on the website of the Office of the President.
In his statement, Bereza noted that he does not understand the reasons for the sanctions and linked them to his own stance toward the authorities. He stated that he views this as a consequence of his public statements and his fight against corruption.
“To face sanctions from both Putin and Zelenskyy at the same time—that’s a real jackpot,” wrote the former MP, adding that he expects an explanation regarding the grounds for this decision.
Berezha previously served as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament during the 8th convocation. After his term ended, he continued his public activities and regularly commented on political events in Ukraine.
The former MP announced this on his Facebook page.
