Budanov stated that Ukraine cannot freely sell weapons during the war
Ukraine is only able to export those types of weapons of which it has sufficient quantities. Specifically, this refers to maritime drones and outdated drone models that are no longer critically needed for the current phase of the war.
This was announced by Kyrylo Bohdanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on Telegram.
“The Ukrainian defense-industrial complex is currently at a point where our experience and technologies have become a global brand. But this status will not last forever. We have a unique window of opportunity to carve out our niche in the global market,” he said during the Defense Tech Export Forum.
The head of the Presidential Office emphasized that the free sale of weapons is impossible during the active phase of the war.
“I believe that we can freely sell only what we have in sufficient surplus, such as maritime drones. We can also export weapons that are hardly used in our war anymore but are in high demand in Asian or African countries. These include, for example, certain long-range UAVs or early models of FPV drones,” he noted.
Budanov emphasized that it is crucial to prevent the uncontrolled leakage of technology. “We cannot allow unique Ukrainian developments to fall into the hands of the enemy through the sale of finished products or the creation of dubious ‘subsidiary companies,’” he stressed.
According to him, the future of the Ukrainian defense industry lies in technological superiority.
“I urge manufacturers to focus on integrating artificial intelligence right now. Implementing AI and developing our own control systems is the only way to maintain our status as pioneers in the field of unmanned technologies,” he added.
Zelenskyystated that negotiations regarding Ukraine cannot wait for the war in Iran to end.
