The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a report that Kaplunov, the deputy commander of the RDK, was abducted

The State Bureau of Investigations has received a statement from the lawyers of Stepan Kaplunov, the deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, who was abducted a few days ago near his home.

Investigators are currently reviewing the statement to determine the legal classification of the case and decide whether to enter the information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.

“We can confirm that the relevant statement was submitted by the soldier’s lawyers. Investigators are currently reviewing it to determine whether it meets the criteria for entry into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations,” said Tetyana Sapian, communications advisor for the SBI.

Earlier, the Regional Criminal Investigation Department stated that they did not know Kaplunov’s whereabouts.

According to a statement from the unit, Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander for combat operations of the Russian Volunteer Corps, was abducted several days ago by unknown individuals in the courtyard of his home. The soldier’s whereabouts currently remain unknown.

Earlier, Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a new large-scale attack.

As of now, 11 people are known to have been killed in Kyiv; July 7 has been declared a day of mourning in the capital.
