A record 22 Ukrainian universities were included in the 2026 global rankings
Ukraine has set a new record in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, which includes 22 Ukrainian higher education institutions—five more than last year.
According to Serhiy Babak, chair of the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada, this result marks the country’s best performance since it began participating in this prestigious international ranking.
Sumy State University achieved the highest ranking among Ukrainian higher education institutions, placing in the 801–1000 range, while the I. Ya. Gorbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University took second place in the 1201–1500 group. Despite this positive trend amid a full-scale war, the MP noted that Ukrainian universities still lag significantly behind global leaders in terms of research quality, levels of research funding, and the extent of international collaboration.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced a public discussion of the draft model curriculum for students in grades 1–4 of general education schools.
