Indian summer is set to return to Ukraine, says a meteorologist

After a spell of cool and rainy weather, warm weather is returning to Ukraine. In late September and early October, mostly dry, sunny, and comfortable weather is forecast for most regions. 

Daytime temperatures will rise to +17…+22 °C in some places, and it may be even warmer in certain regions.

“Indian summer is already peeking out,” she noted.

According to Natalka Didenko’s forecast, the weather in Ukraine will improve significantly in late September and early October. The warm anticyclonic period could last at least until the end of next week—approximately until October 4.

Weather forecaster Vitaliy Postrygan also predicted a new wave of warming. According to him, starting September 25, atmospheric conditions will gradually stabilize, and warmer air will begin to flow into Ukraine.

The most noticeable warming is expected in the last days of September and early October.

In most regions, daytime temperatures will range from +17 to +22 °C. In some areas, temperatures may rise to +24 to +27 °C.

The warmest conditions are forecast for the southern and eastern regions. At the same time, it may be somewhat cooler in western and northern Ukraine, and localized precipitation cannot be ruled out in some areas.

The warming is attributed to the formation of a persistent area of high atmospheric pressure. The anticyclone will gradually displace cyclones and contribute to dry, calm, and sunny weather.

This very change in weather conditions following a noticeable autumn chill is characteristic of the period traditionally known as “Indian summer.”

Before this new warm spell, Ukraine experienced a significant deterioration in weather conditions, with rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. And on September 22, the first snow even fell on Chornogora.

Despite the rise in daytime temperatures, nights will remain cool, as is typical for fall.

Overnight temperatures are expected to range mainly from +7 to +11 °C. Due to the anticyclonic nature of the weather, fog and mist are also possible in the morning.

In some areas, visibility on the roads may drop to 300–500 meters. Drivers should take these weather conditions into account during their morning commutes.

In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, mostly dry weather is forecast for late September and early October.

In the capital, daytime temperatures will hover around +19 °C.

“Plan to end September and welcome October with sunny and warm weather,” noted Natalka Didenko.

Thus, warm and dry weather may last through the last days of September and at least the first days of October. It will be quite warm during the day, but nighttime and morning temperatures will already reflect the autumnal nature of the weather.

Forecaster Natalka Didenko reported on the approach of a new period of fall warmth.

On September 29, Ukraine is expected to have partly cloudy skies with no precipitation. Daytime temperatures will rise to 23°C, while in Kyiv, temperatures are forecast to be around 18–20°.

An autumn cold snap has arrived in Ukraine, accompanied by rain. However, a prolonged period of cool weather is not expected—by the end of the week, temperatures are expected to rise to comfortable levels.
