The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine explained what to do during an air raid alert at the border
During Russian attacks, the operation of border crossing points and border crossing procedures are suspended. This applies not only to sections of the border with Moldova or Poland, but also to all other areas.
According to him, during enemy attacks, border crossing operations at various sections of the border are suspended. This applies not only to border crossing points with Moldova or Poland, but also to all other directions. All of this is done to protect people’s lives and health and prevent crowds from forming at the border crossing points, he noted.
The spokesperson also assured that border patrols at the checkpoints are doing everything possible to evacuate people from the checkpoints as quickly as possible, disperse them, and, where possible, provide places where people can stay safely during such attacks.
Demchenko emphasized that all border control services and government agencies are working as quickly as possible to restore operations at the checkpoint in the event that it has been damaged.
“Everyone is working to ensure that, even in the face of destruction, border crossing points are provided as quickly as possible with the necessary technical equipment—such as mobile structures, if needed—so that border control services, border guards, and customs officials can fully resume border operations. Because we fully understand that cross-border traffic must continue. This includes, once again, the need to transport goods—both out of and into Ukraine—as well as the need for people to cross the border,” he noted, adding that this is a matter of security, since suspending traffic in any one direction automatically places a burden on neighboring checkpoints, where lines and crowds may form.
Demchenko noted that, given the enemy’s aerial attacks, citizens should be aware that border infrastructure may be at risk.
“People need to be aware of the danger posed by such enemy air attacks and the fact that border areas and border infrastructure may also be at risk. When an air raid siren sounds, people should also do everything possible on their own to ensure they are not in the immediate vicinity of a border crossing point. Because border patrols, while carrying out their duties directly at the border crossing point—and I’ll emphasize this again—are dispersing people from the area and stressing that border crossing operations will not resume until the air raid alert has ended. Citizens who are heading toward the border should also realize that it is better to leave the area and return once the air raid alert has been lifted and border crossing operations resume,” the spokesperson said.

On September 13, 208 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops were recorded on the front lines. The occupiers carried out dozens of airstrikes, deployed thousands of kamikaze drones, and conducted nearly 3,000 shelling attacks.
Total combat losses among Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have reached approximately 1,508,600 servicemen.
