The Ukrainian band “Druga Rika” raised 12.9 million hryvnias and purchased an evacuation boat for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The musicians announced the handover of the vessel on their official social media pages.

Funds for the purchase were raised during the band’s anniversary project, “I Am! 30 Years.” Part of the funds came from concert ticket sales, and partners, donors, and fans of the band also contributed. Funds were also raised separately through charity auctions.

“This boat is the result of everyone who contributed,” the musicians emphasized, thanking everyone who made donations ranging from a few hryvnias to hundreds of thousands and millions.

According to the band’s frontman, Valerii Kharchyshyn, at the start of the fundraising campaign, the goal of 15 million hryvnias seemed very ambitious. However, after a concert at Kyiv’s Palace of Sports and with the active support of their fans, the musicians became convinced that they could achieve it.

“To be honest, when we set a goal to raise 15 million, 12.9 million of which was for an evacuation boat, I was probably guided more by emotion than by calculation. It was a very ambitious but realistic goal,” said Kharchyshyn.

Auctions also played an important role in the fundraising effort. The musicians put up for auction not only items purchased specifically for the cause but also their own instruments, which they had used throughout the 30 years of “Druga Rika’s” existence.

The handover of the boat does not mark the end of the charity campaign. The band continues to raise funds toward a total goal of 15 million hryvnias. The next goals are to purchase Mavic 3T drones and server equipment for Ukrainian reconnaissance units.
