In August, DTEK restored power to nearly 4.5 million homes following shelling by Russia
In August, DTEK energy workers restored power to nearly 4.5 million homes in four regions of Ukraine and Kyiv that had been left without electricity due to damage to the power infrastructure caused by Russian attacks.
“During the last month of summer, the enemy continued to attack peaceful cities and villages and destroy energy infrastructure. Despite all the security challenges and difficulties of wartime, DTEK energy workers managed to fully or partially restore power to residents of more than 2,200 settlements and restore electricity to nearly 4.5 million Ukrainian households,” the statement reads.
For the fourth month in a row, the Donetsk region saw the most restorations. There, energy workers restored power to 2.6 million homes.
In the Odesa region, power was restored to 1.1 million families, and in the Dnipropetrovsk region—to nearly 569,000 households.
In the capital, power was restored to 90,100 households following Russian shelling.
Another 38,200 households had their power restored in the Kyiv region.
In total, throughout August, DTEK’s energy workers fully or partially restored power to more than 2,200 settlements.
Russian shelling regularly damages Ukraine’s power grids and energy infrastructure. As a result, emergency crews are forced to work under constant security risks.
The company noted that in the first half of 2026, DTEK’s distribution system operators restored 240 substations, transformer stations, and distribution points damaged as a result of hostilities.
The work was carried out in Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Donetsk regions.

As of the morning of September 1, consumers in 188 settlements in the Sumy region were without power due to severe weather. In addition, new power outages caused by Russian missile and drone strikes were recorded in five regions of Ukraine.
As a reminder, on the morning of August 29, Russian troops again attacked energy infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region using Shahed-type strike drones. The attack damaged energy facilities, leaving more than 300,000 customers without power.
