Former lawmaker Pashinsky has entered into a plea agreement in the Kurchenko oil products case
Serhiy Pashynsky, chairman of the National Association of the Defense Industry of Ukraine and a former member of parliament, has entered into a plea agreement in criminal proceedings concerning fraud involving seized petroleum products belonging to businessmanfugitive Serhiy Kurchenko, which caused the state losses of 817 million hryvnias.
The former politician pleaded guilty to charges of forming a criminal organization and abuse of office, which resulted in serious consequences.
The pre-trial investigation of this massive case, comprising approximately 200 volumes, was completed in early 2025. The transition to the trial phase was scheduled for June 4, but the hearing did not take place, and the following day, the High Anti-Corruption Court returned the case materials to the prosecutor after Pashinsky’s defense team initiated a plea agreement. It is noted that during the negotiation of the document, the former MP managed to soften the terms: the original charge of embezzlement of property on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) was removed from the final text of the indictment, replaced by the less severe charge of abuse of office. The agreement is currently awaiting official approval by a panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
