A former judge from Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast was sentenced to 5 years for accepting a $1,200 bribe

The High Anti-Corruption Court found a former judge of the Kolomyia City and District Court in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast guilty of accepting an unlawful benefit and sentenced him to five years in prison.

According to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, in 2022, the judge, through the mediation of a lawyer, received $1,200 in exchange for not holding a driver administratively liable for driving while intoxicated.

The court also barred the convicted man from holding certain positions for three years and ordered the confiscation of half of his property.

The verdict will become final 30 days after it is announced, unless it is appealed.
