Yermak continues to influence decisions at the Office of the President - media reports
According to media reports, Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President, continues to exert significant influence over personnel appointments and internal processes at the Presidential Administration.
This is reported by UP, citing sources.
Sources in political and business circles said that Yermak retains control over most appointees in the Office of the President and has a full understanding of internal processes.
"One signal from the president, and everyone will stop taking calls from AB. But there is no such signal. On the contrary, there is a signal that confirms Andriy’s authority," the source noted.
Another source within the government hierarchy asserts that Yermak’s influence has not disappeared, but has merely become less public: “Yermak is not there—but he is. It’s just that now he needs to send not 10 text messages, but 5. And everything else will be handled by his trusted associates.”
The publication’s sources also noted that a number of key figures in the government have retained their positions, and personnel decisions remain under Yermak’s influence.
"Svyrydenko is still there. Kuleba is still there. Kravchenko is still there. Pronin is still there. Even Kipper is still there. The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) is AB’s creation. The selection for head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SZR) is also AB’s. What has changed since Yermak’s resignation? Did Budanov join the Presidential Office? Well, let him try to replace one of his deputies—or rather, Yermak’s deputies,” the source noted.
Also, one of the experienced political figures quips that without the president’s permission, it is impossible to “gain access to all the teams or enter the Bar Association.”
“We thought the problem was Yermak, and that’s why we were fighting Yermak, but it was actually the president,” said one of the key members of Zelenskyy’s team in a conversation with the author of this article two months after the head of the Office of the President resigned.
At the same time, some of the sources interviewed note that after the changes in the Office of the President, “it became easier to breathe” and there was greater access to leadership.
However, according to the interviewees, this decentralization of power may be temporary and does not signify a real change in the decision-making system.
