The EU has not received any requests from the U.S. to return funds provided as aid to Ukraine

The European Commission has not received any official requests from the United States regarding reimbursement of funds spent on supporting Ukraine during Joe Biden’s presidency.

This was stated on September 4 by Olof Hill, deputy chief spokesperson for the European Commission, in Brussels.

According to him, the EU has not yet received any official communication from the U.S. side on this matter. Hill clarified that this refers to a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, which he posted on social media.

“As far as I know, we have not received any official notification,” the European Commission representative noted.

At the same time, European Commission spokesperson Christian Wiegand emphasized the scale of European support for Ukraine. According to him, the EU and its member states have already provided Ukraine with more than 220 billion euros, of which approximately 87 billion euros were allocated to strengthening Ukraine’s military and defense capabilities.

Thus, Brussels has not yet received any official request from Washington to reimburse the costs of aid to Ukraine.
