Europe will allocate €140 million to Ukraine for housing for veterans and internally displaced persons
The Council of Europe Development Bank has approved two new loans for Ukraine totaling €140 million to provide housing for war veterans and internally displaced persons.
€60 million has been allocated for the veterans’ housing program. Combat veterans and individuals with war-related disabilities will be eligible for preferential loans with terms of up to 20 years. The program is expected to provide housing for nearly 1,600 families.
Another €80 million will be allocated to housing support for displaced persons from temporarily occupied territories. The program provides for the issuance of housing certificates worth 2 million UAH through “Diyu” and the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property. According to preliminary estimates, approximately 2,000 families will be eligible for assistance.
In total, since Ukraine joined the Council of Europe Development Bank in 2023, the bank has already approved over €810 million in financing for housing, healthcare, and other social projects.
