Filatov called Navrotsky a liar and a manipulator

Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov reacted to Polish President Karol Nawrocki’s decision to revoke the Order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest state award, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He called the Polish leader a liar and a manipulator.

“I have already spoken out against Navrotsky’s decision to strip our President of the order. And nearly a month ago, I called the Polish president a liar and a manipulator. Which, as it turns out, was true,” Filatov noted.

He reported that Roman Shukhevych Street has existed since 2015 in Dnipro, an industrial metropolis in eastern Ukraine. Dnipro was one of the first cities to restore the name of the UPA combat commander to a street in our cities.

“Do you think there was even any public outcry? None whatsoever. Seven (!) years later, in 2022, we renamed one of the central streets in honor of Stepan Bandera. And that’s when all the pro-Russian / semi-pro-Russian / just plain idiots really got their asses on fire :)) Outcries / public hearings / parliamentary inquiries.
‘We won’t forget.’ ‘We won’t forgive.’ In other words, for seven years, all these people walked down Shukhevych Street, and they were fine with it.
But Bandera really gets under their skin,” Filatov added on his Facebook page.

It should be noted that the decision to revoke Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a unilateral act by the president. Under Polish procedure, the president may initiate the revocation of an award, but the corresponding act requires the countersignature of the Polish prime minister.

In response to the Polish president’s actions, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that he would return his state award to Poland.

A new diplomatic scandal has erupted between Ukraine and Poland following Warsaw’s decision regarding the Order of the White Eagle, which had previously been awarded to Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has not yet made a decision regarding the revocation of the Order of the White Eagle from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy due to the dispute over the name of a unit of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
