Harvest Grain's CFO Was Cleared of Liability After Failing to Pay 15 Million in Taxes
The Mykolaiv Central District Court dismissed the case against Dmitry Ivanov, the financial director of Harvest Grain LLC.
This is not an acquittal—the court exempted him from criminal liability after the tax was fully repaid.
According to the case file, in the first quarter of 2024, the company received 5,670 metric tons of soybeans worth over 85 million hryvnias free of charge. Ivanov did not report this amount on his income tax return, resulting in a loss of 15.3 million hryvnias to the state budget.
According to the investigation, he prepared the return himself and signed it using the director’s digital signature. At the same time, he allegedly did not inform the company’s director of his actions.
However, even before the notice of suspicion was served, Ivanov paid the full amount of the tax. Under Part 4 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this constitutes grounds for mandatory exemption from criminal liability.
Separately, the case file mentions an episode involving the export of soybeans, which involved the same 5,670 metric tons. However, the Mykolaiv court’s decision pertains specifically to the tax-related episode.
