France Joins Agreement to Establish Special Tribunal — Sibiga

The French Republic has officially confirmed its intention to accede to the Expanded Partial Agreement on the Steering Committee of the Special Tribunal.

This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, who emphasized the importance of consolidating international efforts to hold the aggressor accountable.

To date, 18 member states of the Council of Europe have joined this initiative, demonstrating strong support for the idea of justice at the international level.

It is expected that the relevant agreement will be put to a vote by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe as early as May of this year.

The head of Ukraine’s foreign ministry expressed sincere gratitude to French partners for this step.

“I am grateful to France for officially confirming its intention to join the Enlarged Partial Agreement on the Steering Committee of the Special Tribunal,” Andriy Sybiga noted in his statement.

The minister also called on other countries, regardless of their membership in the Council of Europe, to actively participate in the creation of a legal mechanism for punishment.

He is convinced that this process is of historic significance for the entire global security architecture and international law.

According to Sibiga, Ukraine is effectively setting a precedent that the world has not seen in decades.

He emphasized that for the first time since the Nuremberg trials, the international community is working to ensure real justice for the crime of aggression, which is key to a stable peace.

Sibiga spoke out against Russian disinformation regarding Ukraine’s success in the Middle East

Sybiga will present a new European security architecture at the Munich Security Conference.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated the need for a face-to-face meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.

Sybiga also outlined the key issues that Zelenskyy is ready to discuss with Putin.
