Getmantsev Outlined Steps to Support Businesses Following Russian Shelling
To support Ukrainian businesses suffering losses due to Russian shelling, a series of practical measures must be implemented as soon as possible.
Among the priorities are assistance with warehouses, military risk insurance, expansion of the “5-7-9” program, and support for businesses in frontline regions.
According to Getmantsev, the first steps should be:
- assisting businesses with warehouse space, particularly on state-owned land;
- launching an effective military risk insurance program;
- expanding the “5-7-9” state program for affordable lending;
- strengthening coordination of support for businesses in frontline territories;
- expanding the ability for legitimate (“white”) businesses to reserve employees;
- maintaining current acquiring conditions, as, in his opinion, changing them under the current circumstances is inadvisable.
At the same time, the lawmaker noted that the state currently lacks the financial resources to directly compensate businesses that have suffered losses as a result of Russian attacks.
“As for direct compensation for losses at the state’s expense (not through insurance), I think everyone understands that such capacity does not exist. And if we’re talking about compensation, it should have been provided starting in 2014. Therefore, unfortunately, future reparations remain the only source of compensation for such losses,” emphasized Danylo Getmantsev.
According to him, it is precisely future reparations from Russia that should become the main source of compensation for the losses inflicted on Ukrainian businesses by the war.
This was stated by Danylo Getmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy.
Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky held an emergency meeting with representatives of business, retail, and logistics companies following massive Russian strikes on warehouse and commercial infrastructure.
Koretsky instructed the ambassadors to seek the confiscation of Russian assets.
Prime Minister Koretsky ordered ministers to attend the Verkhovna Rada.
As a reminder, Koretsky instructed officials to assess the regions’ readiness and is awaiting a report by the end of the week.
On July 28, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dismissed Alona Shkrum from her position as First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine. The government adopted the corresponding decision following her request to resign voluntarily.
