The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Orest Mandziy as the new head of customs
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved Orest Mandziy as head of the State Customs Service.
The nomination was submitted by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko following an open competition. For the first time in a long while, the agency has a full-fledged head without acting status.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on Telegram. She added that the government expects the new head of the State Customs Service to continue the reform.
“We expect the new head to continue reforming the Customs Service and to build a modern, transparent, and effective customs system that works to ensure the state’s financial stability. We count on consistent work to implement these changes and further strengthen the institutional capacity of the Customs Service,” she said.
Orest Mandziy was a finalist in the competition for the position of head of the State Customs Service alongside Ruslan Damentsev. Both had previously worked at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The competition to select candidates concluded at the end of last month.
Orest Mandziy headed the NABU detective unit. He had been working at the Bureau since 2017.
A total of 38 candidates were admitted to the competition. For a long time, the State Migration Service remained without a permanent head. Last year, the Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Finance to resolve the issue of appointing a permanent head of the State Migration Service, after which an open competition was announced.
