Who will automatically have their deferral extended after May 4: an explanation

In Ukraine, before martial law expires on May 4, those subject to military service are advised to check the status of their deferment from mobilization.

This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.

It is noted that for certain categories, deferrals are automatically extended through the “Reserve+” electronic registry without the need for an in-person visit. This applies, in particular, to parents of large families and people with disabilities. In some cases, the data has already been updated in advance—through August 2026.

However, if the information has not been updated in the app, you must personally contact the Military Registration and Enlistment Office before being sent to a military unit.

Men aged 25 to 60 who have legal grounds for exemption from conscription are eligible for deferment. This includes people with disabilities, parents of three or more children, single parents, guardians, relatives of deceased servicemembers, reserved personnel, and those released from captivity.

Separately, deferrals are provided for full-time and dual-track students, doctoral candidates, interns, as well as professors and teachers, provided they are officially employed.

You can apply for a deferment at any time, but lawyers advise doing so in advance to avoid potential issues.

On April 21, the Security Service of Ukraine detained military personnel from one of the regional territorial recruitment and social support centers in Odesa.

It is reported that the detention of TCC representatives took place on Balkivska Street and involved a chase and gunfire.
