Koretsky and the new cabinet officially took the oath of office
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky and the newly appointed members of the Cabinet of Ministers officially took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people in the Verkhovna Rada. The ceremony took place after Parliament approved the new government.
Serhiy Koretskyi took the helm of the Cabinet of Ministers, succeeding Yulia Svyrydenko as prime minister. After taking the oath, the new government officially began carrying out its duties.
“I, Serhiy Fedorovych Koretskyi, fully aware of the high responsibility of a member of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, solemnly swear allegiance to the Ukrainian people. I pledge to uphold the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine, to strengthen the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, to defend human and civil rights and freedoms, and to ensure the well-being of the Ukrainian people and the sustainable democratic development of society,” said Koretsky.
In accordance with the Law “On the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine,” when a new government is formed, the Prime Minister of Ukraine reads the oath aloud, and each member of the Cabinet signs the text.
A member of the government takes office upon taking the oath. The text of the oath signed by a member of the Cabinet is kept in their personnel file.
