Lyashko denied rumors that Yermak had sought astrological advice regarding his appointment
Health Minister Viktor Lyashko stated that his appointment to the position was made solely by a decision of the Verkhovna Rada, and he called reports of an alleged discussion of his candidacy with an astrologer “manipulation.”
He made these remarks during a parliamentary session.
Responding to questions regarding media reports about possible “astrological consultations” during the formation of government personnel decisions, Lyashko emphasized that his career in the healthcare system began back in 2019, when he became deputy minister.
He recalled that during the evacuation of Ukrainians from Wuhan, he was appointed Chief State Sanitary Doctor and coordinated the response to COVID-19.
“I entered this field in December 2019 as Deputy Minister. In February, we all went through the evacuation of our citizens from Wuhan to Novi Sanzhary. It was then that I was appointed Chief State Sanitary Doctor and tasked with combating the epidemic, which escalated into the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 20, 2021, in this chamber, I addressed you, read out the action plan, and with 262 votes, you appointed me Minister of Health. It wasn’t just anyone—you appointed me,” Lyashko stated.
The minister also commented on information circulating in the media regarding his date of birth, calling it inaccurate. He emphasized that such claims are manipulative and have no basis in reality.
“As for the zodiac signs, the issue is that the information circulating in the media is distorted. I am a Taurus. My birthday is April 24. I will do everything possible to ensure the healthcare system develops. And I ask that the issue of these manipulations be left outside the halls of parliament,” he added.
