Following the government's resignation, Lisovyi spoke about education reforms

Following the government’s resignation, Acting Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi thanked former Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko for her cooperation, trust, and support of educational initiatives.

According to Lisovyi, reforms in the field of education are rarely simple or politically advantageous. He emphasized that the team at the Ministry of Education and Science had been working on changes that are of long-term importance for the development of Ukrainian education.

“Educational reforms are rarely simple or politically advantageous. They require the ability to look years ahead and make decisions based not on the political cycle, but on the interests of future generations. Because education is almost never about today, and certainly not about yesterday. It is always about the future—about changes whose results become apparent only years later. About decisions that are not always simple or comfortable, but shape the country for decades to come,” Lisovyi wrote on Facebook after the Verkhovna Rada accepted Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko’s resignation.

He emphasized that it was precisely thanks to this shared understanding of the role of education that, over the course of a year, the ministry managed not only to respond to the daily challenges posed by Russian aggression but also to continue implementing systematic changes in education step by step.

In particular, he said, during this time: for the first time in many years, a systematic increase in the incomes of teachers and professors has been initiated; for the first time, a separate state mechanism has been created to fund the construction of shelters in kindergartens—a subsidy of 1 billion hryvnia; nearly 5 billion hryvnias have been allocated to ensure the energy resilience of schools, universities, and colleges so that the education system can weather the coming winter; free meals have already been provided to over 1.5 million students, and the program has been expanded to cover 2.7 million children starting in September; We have continued implementing the reform of senior specialized secondary schools; opened 90 new training and practical centers and laboratories for vocational education; launched new tools to support science; expanded base funding; and supported 40 research topics under the state research order.

“And this is by no means an exhaustive list. During wartime, it’s very easy to put off changes ‘until later.’ But education cannot afford to wait. That is precisely why I particularly appreciate the support for decisions that were difficult, sometimes unpopular, but necessary for the country’s future. Thank you for your leadership, cooperation, and trust,” Lisovyi added.

On Tuesday, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to the Law “On the Cabinet of Ministers,” the prime minister is relieved of office on the day the decision on her resignation is adopted at a plenary session of the Rada, which results in the resignation of the entire government. The outgoing Cabinet of Ministers continues to exercise its powers until the newly formed government begins its work.

This was announced by Oksen Lisovyi, acting Minister of Education and Science.

Lisovyi declared nearly 1.9 million hryvnias in income

Following a decision by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, a comprehensive audit of all Ukrainian mineral resources and their users has begun. This is a priority issue for the Ukrainian government.

During a session, Uzhhorod City Council member Valentin Shtefanyo presented Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv with a plastic shovel to protest a 12.7-hectare land project related to subsoil use. The council member expressed doubt about whether amber is actually mined on this site and joked about the possibility of finding “gold.”
