The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk urged residents to prepare for a difficult fall

Fall may prove to be a challenging time for Ukraine’s western regions. Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv stated that the city is already preparing for possible new attacks, strengthening its air defense capabilities, and working to protect critical infrastructure.

According to the mayor, no Ukrainian city can currently be considered completely safe, so residents are urged not to ignore air raid sirens. Ruslan Martsinkiv believes that in September and October, Russia may intensify its strikes specifically on Ukraine’s western regions. Because of this, city authorities are already preparing for potential challenges. “The enemy will strike specifically at the western part of our country. So I can’t reveal everything, but we’re preparing for this challenge. Because, unfortunately, we have to strengthen our air defense, as what’s happening in Kyiv could happen in Ivano-Frankivsk,” Martsinkiv said.

At the same time, he emphasized that he does not foresee large-scale shelling of the city in the coming days. However, he said, this is no reason to let our guard down. “There is no city in Ukraine that is completely safe,” the mayor stressed.

Martsynkiv also did not rule out possible provocations from Belarus. He did not provide details but noted that city authorities are considering various scenarios. The mayor identified preparing Ivano-Frankivsk for the heating season as one of the main tasks for the coming months. Work is currently underway in the city on boiler rooms and other critical infrastructure facilities to ensure they are ready for winter.

Special attention is being paid to supporting the air defense forces. According to Martsinkiv, although this is not a direct responsibility of the city government, the city is assisting the military as much as possible. “Although this is not our duty, we are concerned about it. These are very important tasks facing us,” he noted.

At the end of his address, the mayor once again urged residents to pay close attention to air raid sirens and not to remain in dangerous areas during an air threat. According to him, the war is ongoing, and the risk of new attacks remains for all regions of Ukraine. He made these remarks in his video address.

Ukraine currently has no problems with fuel supplies. There are sufficient reserves to meet the needs of citizens, businesses, the Armed Forces, and critical infrastructure.
