The Ministry of Education has allowed school class periods to be shortened to 35 minutes

The Ministry of Education and Science has allowed educational institutions to shorten class periods from 45 to 40 or 35 minutes, if necessary. This was announced by Minister of Education and Science Andriy Butenko, according to “Glavkom.”

According to him, the school’s main objective remains achieving the curriculum outcomes, so lesson lengths and schedules can be adapted to the students’ condition. In particular, schools can rearrange the order of subjects in the schedule, moving the most difficult material to times when children are better able to absorb information.

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science emphasized that this is not about establishing a new standard for lesson duration, but about the ability to respond flexibly to children’s fatigue in order to improve the effectiveness of learning.

On September 1, schools across Ukraine held the All-Ukrainian lesson “The Language of Dignity: Seeing the Person Behind the Words,” dedicated to respect, diversity, and barrier-free communication. The Ministry of Education and Science has prepared materials for students in grades 1–12, which teachers can adapt according to the age and needs of their specific class.
