The Ministry of Development has selected pilot projects for the modernization of the water supply system
Ukraine has identified the first communities where modern approaches to water supply and wastewater management will be implemented.
This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
Three municipal utilities were selected under the EU4Green Recovery East program: “Pustomytyvodokanal,” “Drohobychvodokanal,” and “Kremenchukvodokanal.”
In these communities, a comprehensive assessment of the systems will be conducted, including an analysis of wastewater treatment, energy consumption, sludge management, and the technical condition of the infrastructure.
Based on the analysis results, the communities will receive modernization “roadmaps” with specific solutions to improve efficiency and environmental safety.
The Ministry of Development notes that this is the first stage of a broader program aimed at implementing European standards in the water supply sector.
The selected cities are intended to serve as models for scaling up such solutions nationwide.
Ukraine is actively preparing for the coming winter and prioritizing the protection of water supply and critical infrastructure. The government has already allocated over 22 billion hryvnias for these needs. Specifically, plans include upgrading networks and installing backup equipment. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Additionally, Shmyhal is launching a tender for 1.3 GW of new generation capacity.
