In Poland, Ukrainians with temporary protection will be able to obtain a residence permit

Ukrainian citizens currently in Poland with temporary protection status (PESEL UKR) can now apply for a three-year residence permit.

This was reported by RMF24, citing the Office for Foreigners.

This refers to a special type of permit—the CUKR residence card—which can be obtained by both Ukrainians and their family members.

To apply, you must be legally residing in Poland with temporary protection status, hold Ukrainian citizenship as of June 4, 2025, and have maintained UKR status continuously for at least 365 days.

Applications can only be submitted online through a special portal. The application fee is 340 zlotys, plus an additional 100 zlotys for document processing.

Upon receiving the residence card, temporary protection status is converted into a three-year temporary residence permit.

This grants full access to the labor market without additional permits, the ability to conduct business under the same conditions as Polish citizens, and the right to travel within the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

At the same time, after obtaining the permit, the person loses their UKR status and the associated benefits, including the right to free accommodation and meals at reception centers.

Nine U.S. and Canadian citizens were detained in Poland after illegally entering the grounds of the former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Poland decided to cancel a concert by American rapper Kanye West, which was scheduled to take place in the city of Chorzów. The decision was prompted by public outcry and scandals surrounding his previous statements related to Nazism and anti-Semitic remarks.
