Tikhanovskaya arrived in Kyiv ahead of the opening of the representative office of Belarusian democratic forces in Ukraine
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will make her first official visit to Kyiv on May 25, during which she plans to open a representative office of Belarusian democratic forces in Ukraine and coordinate further steps to counter the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.
This was reported by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s office.
During the visit, the parties will discuss prospects for systematic cooperation between Ukraine and Belarusian democratic forces, as well as strengthening international coordination in countering Russian aggression and the Lukashenko regime.
Separately, they plan to consider the issue of the institutional presence of Belarusian democratic forces in Ukraine, including the format of further cooperation.
“Among the topics are the status and prospects of Belarusians in Ukraine (primarily Belarusian volunteers and their family members), the opening of a mission of Belarusian democratic forces in Kyiv, the development of a permanent political dialogue, and the appointment of a special representative for relations with democratic Belarus,” the statement noted.
Thus, Tikhanovskaya’s visit to Kyiv could be a step toward strengthening political and humanitarian ties between Ukraine and the Belarusian democratic opposition.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the Belarusian opposition in exile, arrived in the Ukrainian capital to hold a series of important meetings with the country’s top leadership.
