Weak magnetic storms are expected on May 25–26

Over the next two days, geomagnetic conditions on Earth are expected to remain calm, posing no serious threat to human health.

The magnetic storm forecast is based on official data provided by NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).

Scientists measure geomagnetic activity on a scale from 0 to 9 using the planetary K-index.

On Monday, May 25, solar activity with a K-index of 1.7 (green level) is expected, corresponding to weak magnetic storms.

On Tuesday, May 26, solar activity with a K-index of 3 (green level) is expected, corresponding to weak magnetic storms. Such low readings usually go unnoticed by most people on the planet.

A magnetic storm is a phenomenon caused by regular flares and eruptions on the Sun, which release a significant amount of solar energy.

It consists of charged particles (protons and electrons) that move rapidly in various directions, including toward Earth. When they reach our planet’s magnetosphere, specific geomagnetic activity occurs.

Any fluctuations ranging from a K-index of 1 to a K-index of 4 are considered minor. Powerful surges exceeding a K-index of 5 are classified as red-level storms and significantly affect people’s well-being and the operation of equipment.

During storms with a K-index of 7 or 8, unique auroras can be observed on Earth.

Geomagnetic fluctuations can affect the human circulatory system and overall physical well-being. Magnetic storms influence atmospheric pressure, which is why some people may experience headaches, fatigue, and stress.

Doctors advise weather-sensitive individuals to prepare in advance for such periods and reduce their psychological and physical stress levels.

To minimize the negative effects of the sun, it is advisable to adjust your daily diet and rest schedule. Experts recommend giving up harmful habits, drinking more fluids, and avoiding stressful situations.

Light walks in the fresh air and a full eight hours of sleep will help improve your well-being.

In May 2026, several periods of solar activity are expected, which may affect the well-being of weather-sensitive people and the operation of electronic devices.

On May 25, Ukraine is expected to see brief showers and temperatures up to 29°C.
